Principles of Demonstration in Teaching for New and Continuing Teachers

Participants will explore effective, level-appropriate approaches to using demonstration as a teaching tool. Through guided practice, attendees will learn how to combine demonstration, verbal instruction, and props to clearly illustrate shape, alignment, and key actions within a pose.

The session will cover demonstrations for a range of pose categories—including standing, forward extensions, back extensions, seated, and inverted postures. Teachers will also develop skills in sequencing concise, accessible instructions and highlighting dynamic, observable actions. Emphasis will be placed on using demonstrations to clarify how specific actions or props can support students across varying levels of experience.
